Modern editing computers are a miracle in my opinion. Did you know that before computers, it took $ 1 million for machines to maintain a state-of-the-art editing room? You need multiple tape decks, a switch, an output generator, an amplifier generator, a sound mixer, signal enhancers, multiple monitors, and years of experience to use it all.
Renting all these items per hour costs $ 500- $ 1,000 per hour to plan. Thirty-two places can easily take up to ten hours to plan, even simple. That’s TEN GRAND in one step on producing something that lasts only half a minute!
OUCH!
We got it better compared to that. Today, ten good enough is enough to buy a complete program with all the software you will need to plan your entire show life.

With a little investment, (perhaps nothing more than a computer with free video editing software already available) you have the opportunity to produce well-organized video stories.
I got a free Windows Movie Maker version 5.1 from Compaq that I bought at a half-discount box shop after Christmas.
Movie Maker will easily edit your video and add graphics that look like artists. You have one line of sound that you can cut and paste.
Any Mac comes with a free iMovie, which is probably a better program than Movie Maker and definitely a killer freebie. They are both free killers.
If you want more creative and sophisticated editing options than the free ones, you can find great software for $ 50- $ 300.
Apple's Final Cut Pro, now called Studio 2, is a video editing software experience in my humble opinion. When FCP first entered the market, it was a chump change to $ 1,000, compared to its rival, Avid with its $ 50,000 version of Media Composer. At the time, people were shouting for a Media Composer because it seemed like it was being sold this way compared to fully equipped suites. After all, can you suddenly find a program the size of Media Composer?

The price of Final Cut Studio today for $ 1,299 may seem high for newbies, but the power of Final Cut cannot be underestimated. It can do anything you can think of and then some. Hollywood uses Final Cut. However, you may not be a Hollywood prisoner.
Final Cut Express is only $ 300 and gives you everything you can afford without having to compete with the highest standards. FCE is what I just bought.
Many companies offer video editing software but I have to admit that I discriminate against Macs and Apple editing software. That’s what I used to use when I worked for big companies and most of the professionals I know prefer Apple Computers over PC editing PCs and other large file-creating jobs. There are a million reasons for that, but I've seen heated debates on this topic, it's scary. Here's a real conversation I've seen:
"We'll get editing PCs over my body!"
"That can be arranged! I hate those things f ******!"
I try not to overdo it, but my money goes to Apple.
With PCs dominating the market whether I think they should or not, there are many video editing programs on the PC market.
Sony Vegas Movie Studio is popular. I saw you for $ 99 at the Best Buy store down the road and for $ 63.99 on Amazon.com. Reviews are included, some people stop being confused but others read the learning curve and say it is a good program. It can do so much more than free.
The Corel DVD Movie Maker 6 goes for about $ 48 on Amazon and Pinnacle Studio runs for about $ 50. And it doesn't drop as low as Sony Vegas, but as the price shows, you can do more with them than you can for free.
The Corel Paint Pro store for the still image and Sony Vegas mergers into one and named it Corel Sony Visual Creation. $ 110 on Amazon.
Video editing software has a learning curve, but it's not much harder than using a word processing program.
Remember that video editing requires a lot of your computer. Video files are great and making them rotate and dance requires energy. Get the greatest, most remarkable PC you can manage. The Mac G-5 hits another computer out of the pool when it comes to computer video editing. But anything you have can work. My dinky PC is doing well too!
