4K transformation has begun. With a 4x pixel density higher than 1080p, 4K offers a level of clarity and image detail that translates into the most in-depth creation of playback and professionalism without competitors. But all those pixels require a lot of Hardware to drive them. Read on to learn more about how to create the ultimate PC 4K setup.
4K PC gaming
Once you enter the world of play in 4K, there is no going back. Fortunately, the hardware needed to power 4K games has now started to become cheaper for the average player. Here are our component recommendations:
Graphics Card - One of the most important parts of a 4K gaming PC, the graphics card provides real-time gaming graphics. Soon those images are refreshing (called FPS) smooth for your gameplay. At 60 FPS - the lowest approved standard rate - we recommend at least the NVIDIA Geforce GTX 2070 Super with RTX 2080 Super and RTX 2080 Ti best options if budget allows. From the AMD side, the Radeon RX 5700XT also offers independent playback rates with 4K resolution to get more budget.
Processor - Graphics card makes difficult lifting, but the PC brain also does part of it. As many games remain unchanged or slightly turned off, the speed of the processor - and especially the speed of Boost or Turbo - are the most important things to play. Intel's Z390 (and next-generation Z490) Core processors like the i7-9700k and i9-9900k are good choices due to their high clock speed, although we recommend the X299 Core X for both GPU systems due to the higher road counts for PCIe. From AMD, Ryzen 5, and Ryzen 7 are some of the best choices, although they often produce benchmarks in FPS a few times slower than Intel options.
Cooling - With high-performance PC PCs, heat will always be the result. Lowering that temperature is the key to a stable, long-lasting system. For the CPU, we recommend a closed-loop cooling solution with at least a 120mm radiator signal. Modern graph cards do not need to be flushed, but adding fans to advanced cases can help improve air circulation to increase the temperature.
Hard Drive - Although it does not directly affect FPS benchmarks, the fast drive works faster for the entire system to work and start / load screens. As the current installation of the AAA theme is growing exponentially (COD Modern Warfare comes with 175GB), a large SSD like the 1TB MX500 is perfect. For faster speeds, the Samsung 970 Pro is our recommendation for compatible PCIe 3.0 boards and the Seagate FirePro 520 for PCIe 4.0.
4K Workstation PC
The definition of a 4K Workstation PC is a major challenge as the use of the workstation can vary greatly depending on workflow, but our hardware recommendations are:
Graphic Card - Used by Most Professionals like AutoCAD, Maya, 3DS Max, etc., We recommend NVIDIA Quadro graphics, however, in some cases, Geforce may be a better value. (For help in selecting Quadro vs Geforce for your performance, give us a call.) To simply enable 4K monitoring or visualization, the Quadro P2200 is probably the best choice. However, to offer 3D or video designs in 4K, a more robust solution such as the Quadro P4000, RTX 4000, or RTX 5000 may be required.
Processor - 4K tools, core, and series calculations become more important than previously discussed in-game editing. In short, the more cores, the better. Depending on the budget, AMD Ryzen 9 3900X or 3950X in 12-core and 16-core respectively, our recommendations. If you choose Intel, the Core X series is the go-to version for i9-10900X or 10920X. If 4K heavy-duty saving is in your future, you might consider the 24+ Threadripper basic as an alternative.
RAM - The pixel density of 4K consumes RAM when exploring 4K-generated content, especially when loaded with multiple filters or layers. If your workstation is for content creation, 64GB of DDR4 is a small recommendation.
Hard Drive - Similar to 4K UK games, hard drive speed is important for the speed of the entire system, even if it does not directly affect 4K performance. To create content, you will need a lot of space with a drive like 2TB Crucial MX500 or 2TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus.
The conclusion
This 4K gaming PC is a single card builder for the year 2018. It will handle AAA games in 4K resolutions while output 60fps or better, smaller games will run at higher speeds and will exceed 144fps in a few.
If you come here wanting to Custom PC build a good one for £2000, or you want one of the best 4K cards you can get, this is it, without a doubt.
